Cocochan

The site is introverted like a tunnel, the concept is to take the guest through a transitional experience.
The restaurant design creates a dialogue between western and eastern elements. The restaurant is composed of three parts, that is the entrance waiting area, lounge type seating area, and a main hall with two different bars – Teppenyaki and Sushi. As the site is introverted like a tunnel, the concept is to take the guest through a transitional experience. The lounge is treated as the interval between the starting point and the main hall.

A satire on British architectural elements has been created, such as brick being a British element but covered with tea pots and bamboos, and wine barrels covered with pan Asian Cherry blossom graphics. The Color Palette is also derived from the same natural elements that are being used in the Zen philosophy. Gold color is derived from the bamboo and sofas are upholstered in green, inspired by the natural element of plants.
